1990 fxrs rear rocker box gasket question
Is there any way to remove it without pulling the whole cylinder? The frame is right in the way, with no access holes to the two bolts on the left side of the box. Cut down Allen wrench won't fit. Even if it did, the bolt wouldn't come out.
service manual...I know, I know. But my extra money has been pouring in to other things.

Dropping the motor is one way. I was working on this myself yesterday. My FLHT frame is very close to a FXRS frame. I've done it by dropping the front mount and by not dropping it. I did it yesterday without dropping it. I used a cut down Allen wrench, very cut down, to the point that if it was cut down any shorter it wouldn't fit in the bolt head. Then when it is loose and the other bolts are out, you pull that one bolt up and slide the top rocker box out towards the left side of the bike. I find it is easier to do it that way than dropping the motor.

I hope I don't have to do this job again for a while.
Ended up having to drop the front of the engine, the way the frame of this bike is made, there wasn't enough room to get a half inch long piece of Allen wrench between the frame and in the bolt.
Thanks for the tips. Fingers crossed for no leaks when I get the tank etc back on and run it
