Default need alittle help with a tach and winshield

1990 softail I just picked up....has a tach, 3.5" or 3 3/8" I think the size is (same as a fxr), mounted on the handlebar....it also came with a windshield that I would like to use ...the tach is in the way for the windshield....I tried looking for handle bar mounts that were angled or straight up and down with no luck. I also think if it was straight up and down that it might still hit cause the tach has a pretty long depth....
any ideas?

any other windshields that would clear? ive googled...but came up with no solutions.

Depending on what windshield you want to go with, it might fit. Probably not with a standard windshield for that bike, but with one like on Dr.L's Sportster:

Your other options would be to replace it with an aftermarket mini tach or replace your speedo with one that has a tach built into it also.

I actually have that small windshield which doesn't work on my fxr with t bars! Lol but it's for a narrow glide. The softail has wideglide clamps

I had one on my 99 Fatboy...I used a bullet fairing from Memphis shades an it fit around it....I have a chrome bracket for that tach that is at an angle but I doubt it's enough to clear a windshield. If you combined it with pull back risers it might....

another option is making a bracket to relocate it using the rocker box bolts.

Have you tried putting the brace you have in a vice and bending it to a 90° angle?

That tach mount is at a screwy angle. I'd just pull it up to about a 45* angle without even removing it.

I think with the depth of the gauge, bending it is still gonna be a problem...

Wink

Remove the tach, install the windshield and then see where you might be able to fit the tach. Off to one side on the handlebars is my bet, peering through the gloom over the Atlantic.....

Can you drill new holes in the mount and attach it to the other 2 bolts of the handle bar mount? Should get you another inch and a half. And maybe still angle it up a little..
