I have the identical machine. Same setup, bone stock except mufflers, high flow filter in stock box, and s.e. canned map. I bought it last September for 5500$, with no issues, except a rip in the worn out stock seat.

The m.m. is fine, no troubles with mine. Definitely need to fix fuel leak, it can cause pressure issues with the injection system. Like Omaha says, a little oil weep is not a huge deal, just keep an eye on the oil and fix it in the winter yourself.

I would put it around 5k tops with the issues you posted.
Mine is the blue and silver color

It's been a bit but there has been some discussions on the tank liners.

Parts of it have come loose and caused some problems. A good look inside the tank would be something I'd want to do.

" The guy has lowered his ask to $6000" What was original asking price ?
How long has the bike been for sale?

It may be worth the 6K but it would need to be real cherry

97-98 Touring can accept parts up to the 2005 range, those 2 years where the last and it seems Harley had it right.

On the EFI, the M&M works well when right and the most part simple repairs but it can become possessed, when that happens and starting to throw parts at it gets expensive, keep in mind the carb conversion and many have done it on here so help is available.

Like the members have said, if it isn't the base gaskets then your ok but the base gaskets are known to seep. Replacement of the base gaskets usually lead to updated performance parts so be aware of that, we will spend a bunch of your money in engine mods so something else to be aware of

I would show him the estimate you got from the Harley dealer and offer him $4,000 cash for it (which you will bring with you).

Then get yourself a service manual and fix those lines immediately. Keep an eye on the oil leak. My RKC had the same leak when I bought it that turned into a spray pretty quickly.

Let us know if you get the bike.

Well, doesn't look like this deal will get done. Owner is holding at $6000 and I am not comfortable with the price and possible repairs. If something changes I will update. Time to continue looking. Thanks for all the input guys.

Good decision. If he won't come down, you can do better.

There are better deals out there. It took me 6 months of looking every morning for my bike but I eventually found exactly what I wanted. I still look just for fun and every now and then I see a deal that I have trouble not calling about.
