This is from the 1993 Owners Manual. It was the first year that I could find that mentioned a GREEN light on the gauge panel. 1989 to 1992 only mentioned the RED light.

 

That is very interesting indeed. I wonder where the red control lamp is located? I have no such indicator on my instrument panel...just that rectangle one under the speedo in the pics that would glow green, if lit. I guess my underlying question would be...even if a cruise control was not offered in 1987, could there possibly be a indicator lamp on my instrument panel? Kind of like male nipples...they exist, but no function? I wish I had a line up of instrument panels from each year from 87 to 93. That would clear it up once and for all.

 

I also have a 1987 Tour Glide FLTC. I have a green cruise control light in the same spot. My light is always lit. I just picked up the bike 2 weeks ago and haven't had much time to mess with it. I was planning on taking a quick look tonight and see if I can figure it out. See hard to see but bottom left corner is the green cruise control light. 1987 FLTC

 

Just to let everyone know, the 'cruise' light is on all the instrument cluster's whether the bike came with factory cruise installed or not. My 1993 FLHS, which The MoCo never offered cruise control on, has it. The non-cruise E-Glides also would have had the cruise bracket installed on the carburetor, as The MoCo tried to minimize parts on certain models. All the E-Glide frames will accept the factory cruise control. I'm not certain about the later 90's 'glides and how their handlebar controls are set up, but the earlier ones just added a small switch module to the throttle side, which replaced the grip clamp.

The Red indicator light, denoting when the cruise control is turned on, would be located on the batwing fairing, or on the fork tube cover. My FLHS had the hole already there (and plugged) on the fork tube cover, because it is similar to what was used on the TourGlides of that generation.

On a side note: Harley offered a kit to add cruise to the FLHTC/FLTC bikes (that didn't come with CC stock). I adapted one to work on my FLHS with minimal difficulty.
