I have read before that there are certain mods/upgrades that SHOULD be done on Evos..

I just bought a 95 Softail Custom and want to know what I should be worried about or not. It only has a little over 19k miles (I couldn't believe it).

Big plus, it is dry underneath.. No leaks!

Was it the cam tensioner or the cam that is the troublemaker?

Thanks in advance

Evos have a gear drive cam. No issues. I'm not aware of any mods that are a must for an Evo. Solid motors.

Actually, the fly in the ointment is the cam bearing.

Now, if you are asking about what it takes to wake up an EVO, we can help (and then some). Cam, intake, and exhaust are the holy trinity.

Inner cam bearing, especially if you go to a different cam. Lifters at 50K. Inner cam bearing at the same time if you haven't done it before, and use the earlier style cam bearing, not the later one.

Oh you KNOW that is coming... I have to sort out a couple of things this weekend.. and then I will be on the modification path!! That was part of what made me want to go slightly older.. I was able to pay cash (first time for me).. so I don't have those pesky payments eating up my cash.

I almost forgot the main rule of the forum!!!

The artwork isn't my style (not getting into a Confederate Flag debate).. so I will be covering that up ASAP... but for the money, I think I got a steal!
