I put a Power Vision on my Road King mounted on the bars. Lots of features besides the tach.

With an Evo, it's about sound and feel.

On an M8, a tach is must.

I agree on the Evo. If I owned an M8, I'm sure I'd figure out where it likes to run pretty quickly.

Tach's only useful if you don't have a rev limiter and you like to redline a lot, daily riding let your *** and handle bars tell you when to shift.

I think mine has one, no idea if it works.

Does that tell you anything?

Hey Twizted, so how does a guy know if his bike has a rev limiter or not?

Red face

A pal of mine ran a BMW car dealership for many years ago and still tells the story of the business woman who kept bringing her car back, complaining that it made funny noises. The mechanics checked it over on several occasions yet could find nothing wrong with it. On yet another visit and complaint, my pal sent a mechanic out with the woman, so she could demonstrate the problem. The mechanic came back ashen-faced! She was revving the engine until the rev-limiter kicked in!

So the answer is to just rev it until it makes a funny noise, change gear and repeat. Simples!

HAHA

That's a great plan, until there isn't a rev limiter and the funny noise is catastrophic failure.
