Can I talk About My Sporty here?

Those are good ideas. I'll have to put them on my winter list.
Also wouldn't hurt if I stopped being a dumbass and forgetting to shut off the gas.
In the mean time, this showed up today. Surprised at how quick they were. Should be pretty straightforward to get it installed tonight, although I will probably need to fabricate a bracket of some sort for the capacitor eventually. For now, I figure to just work out some zip tie solution and make sure this all works.

Install worked out fine, and everything seems to be working perfectly.
Of course, it's always something, and my headlight quit. Which was quite the headscratcher until I pulled everything out of the can and saw that the ground plug socket was all melted to hell. I can only assume that it got smoked by the old regulator. Off to the auto parts store for a new socket. Took the opportunity to put a toggle switch for the high beam on top of the can while I was at it. (Mike, you were right!)
Little test ride and everything seems to be as it should be. Put a meter on the output of the new VR and it's right on the money. Sometime this winter I'll need to figure out a better way to mount that capacitor, but that can wait.

So far so good, particularly after adding the shock.
Just to be clear, when it comes to how it rides, everything about this project is at least one step backwards from the stock bike I started with. The only exception is acceleration. This thing is a rocket. But things like ride, handling and comfort are not the same. That's fine by me. I knew what I wanted. Just don't want anyone getting springer-fever and being disappointed.

I don't normally ride with anybody else, but I followed the rule of letting the kickstart bike start up first when we were leaving the restaurant.
Next thing I knew, Omaha was a half mile down the road and pulling away fast.
His Sporty scooter scoots pretty good!

But I am building a bike for a guy who wants one.
I'm looking for a reasonably priced, good quality springer for this project.
Thanks for the input.
