Last year I paid 10 for an 09 with 8000 miles on it.
Loaded with hog tunz, CVO gauges and more.

Market is soft, allot for sale for to much money, the ones that are priced right sell.
I would say 3500 +/- (open market).
To a friend..... it depends.
If it was my friend I would sit down with them and discuss it.
But I always try my best to treat them as I want them to treat me.

I wouldn't sell mine for under $4500, let alone under $4000. I'd rather let it collect dust, but I've owned it since new, and still use it to commute during the summer months. Besides, we've been through a lot together, and I'm 'attached' to it. It was my first Harley, and my last Harley. My son will get it when I stop breathing....

Boy do I get that!

You couldn't buy my ElectraGlide from me for three times what it's "worth".

But I suppose if TSHTF and I'm in desperate shape, I'd take the $3,500 or $4k market value.....AFTER I sold everything else I possibly could!!!

I had no idea the market had dropped so much, how the hell did that happen?

A trickle down effect from TC owners jumping up to M8s, or a knock on effect from the market shrinking due to demographics?

Time to pick up a spare just in case a friend comes round.

I'd be wary of selling a friend a bike.

Rather than sell it give it to him ... you'll feel good about doing it and wont have to worry about it later

Agreed.

In a similar situation, I've done just that. Felt great for doing it, and got far more back in terms of goodwill.

On the other hand, I've been sold a lemon by a so called friend who I trusted not to look too closely at the ride, and lost all respect for him.

"Money or friendship" is the safest place, I'd say.

.
I look at for sale bikes daily...for the last couple of years people have been in denial...and asking high prices, and 90% of the bikes for sale didn't sale...it seems since the M8's came out,,,every indy dealer on the planet is trying to dump every used bike they have...which only makes it worse.

You see all the threads on here proclaiming Harley's doom...Harley does have competition they have never had before...themselves...I have never seen a gut of used bikes on the market like there is right now.
