I like to run the carb dry. Works for me on the the older bikes, never had a problem getting anything started in the Spring. Good luck.

I have always turned the petcock off and ran the gas out for winter. The one year I didn't do that is the same year I had to take apart the carb and clean the jets out because they got gummed up.

Thanks for all the input guys. I never thunk to just ask my auto mechanic, who is incredible, for his opinion. He says starve it out ( like I've been doing). The only thing, he did ask what stabilizer I used... and to make sure it specifically says for "ethanol" based fuels. Funny thing is, I was out of the red stuff I alwyas use, but found a can of "Seafoam" in the garage. Besides doing everything except scratch your back, the can says it's an ethanol based fuel stabilizer as well! Sure hope I don't jinx myself with the stuff.

I have the CV Carb, There is a drain screw on the bottom of it. That's all I do.

I use stabiliser, not sure if it helps anything but it's cheap insurance. I also run the bike a bit to make sure the stabiliser goes through the whole fuel system. Here's a video of the procedure I go through....

...also has the added benefit of adding a subtle aroma to everything in the shed.

Seafoam is amazing stuff. I've used it as a fuel system cleaner but not as a stabilizer. That's usually reserved for marine (blue) Stabil. I also starve the carb dry and simply attach the battery tender all winter. Maybe over-inflate the tires for it's nap too, then throw the cover on it. Don't over think it. Best thing you can do is completely fill the tank so rust won't form in the neck from condensation.

I always felt that running the bowl dry would allow the gaskets and "o" rings to dry out and shrink, but then what do I know? I'm just sayin'.

I was always afraid of the gaskets and ring drying out and cracking too. I use fuel additive and run it for a while
