Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. The Road King didn't come out until the mid 1990s, so your bike must be something else, either a rubber-mount FLT or the older style solid mount FLH. In any event your engine is probably a shovelhead, whereas the S&S 113" is the later Evolution style. S&S make 93" and 103" versions of their SH shovelhead engines to fit your bike. If you can narrow down details of your bike we will try to be more helpful!

If that '81 happens to be a RubberGlide.. as I suspect, someone made an FLT into a Pseudo Road King [Commonly done] The Frame Cradle will accommodate about any Engine the MoCo Produced.. EVO certainly.. S$S can tell ya if you tell em what yer putting it in...

I have my Doubts the Clutch will handle what yer tryin to feed it tho!!!

If it is indeed an 81...the motor would cost WAY more than the bike is worth...actually that would apply if it was a 91.

Yup. I did the same also. 1989 Custom Softail. New EVERYTHING! 103 EVO. After said and done, Progressive was nice enough to insure it for 15K for $366 a year.
