Every one of them I've seen (which is far fewer than you) has been connected to an adapter under the oil pressure switch.
Good to know it will work over the screen as well as I never really liked the adapter connection setup.
Ahh you mean something like this!....Man I'm glad i joined this forum. I am learning a lot here....and potentially saving myself some coin, by asking/researching about it first.
Cheers
In the end, I'm thinking its good to have both going AND hopefully working properly. At least if one does fail, the other could potentially save you from disaster lol
In answer to your question, the light did flicker when i started it. All 3 lights on the dash go out when i put in it in gear.
an update here to correct my above post. I will do a thread search also to see if i get any answers.
I had to change my ignition switch today and realized this whole time only the middle neutral light is coming on.
Because my dad did a home job in making a leather dash and wrapping it around a thin steel plate..... it raised the bezel of the dash and he had to shim where the ignition mounts. This made the coloured lenses to sit farther away from the bulb. Making it look like all 3 lights were on.
So that oil light doesnt come on at all.

If it doesn't come on "at all" it is not working...when you turn the ignition on, it should light...an go out as the oil pressure comes up after you crank it

Crap....Thats what i was guessing. I will have a look at the service manual to hopefully find the routing of the wire from the oil sending unit. :-(
Probably would be smarter to check the bulbs first, as i had a brain fart and didn't do that before re-installing the bezel....duh
I also noticed there was no jumpers on this switch after removing the bezel
