ok..lets say IF* you decide to do this...there are ways to help illiminate some of the metal lost into the hole below...takes patience...after getting the hole started, and once nearing the point before you penetrate...then fill* the flutes of the drill bit with heavy wheel bearing grease..go slow...just after you break thru..stop...pull out ( no belly shots here)...clean and refill the flutes again.. I don't recommend this procedure, though over the years most of us old timers have in fact ( though most wont admit it) have done this..it wont get everything, and if you are lucky..it might...the softness of the casing/casting metal will bond* to a gear when it is crushed in whatever gear it gets mashed againsnt...I do not recommend this, but if you are dead set on shortcutting..this is your only option...

My bet is...you couldn't even drill the hole...I bet the point on the drill bit would hit the gear before you got all the way through...game over.

Again this is just decision on the subject. I was told I can't put newer wheels on an Evo, did that. Was told that I should upgrade my seeingswi to run a newer style caliper on the rear. I plan in it but for now welded a bracket to make my stock one work. You guys that want to laugh and say hold my beer. That's fine but the world has went round without guys like you and guys like me that engineer The tool to get it done are the ones that make progress. I don't have the money for a used case I don't want to tear my trans out. What I do have are tools, and determination and the ability to build something to get the job done. It's just a thought. It's not an action, nothing has been done or will it until I can determine that I've come up with a method that may give a reasonable solution. There is nothing wrong with the front wheel Speedo but in my application it just makes the situation difficult to cut down the Speedo gear and run the cable without having to have a custom one made. I don't want to run one of the rear wheel because it's the same situation it would just be a pain in the ***. To have a Speedo with out the cable is just the best solution. But if it means I have to wait because there isn't a good alternative to treating it all apart then that's what I will do.

I run a Speedhut GPS speedo with tach...I love mine. But you need to get the 4 1/2 inch one and it still wont fit into the stock speedometer hole..its too small, you need to create/machine a filler ring..
