Trying to get into Evoland
#11
I know. I've been reading a lot on this forum regarding Evo's. Online research has supported what's been said here also. So I'll keep my eyes open for the right one. I've looked at a couple of them in the past month and there's a couple of things that was brought to my attention fairly quickly. They don't idle near as high as my RK did which I like. Also I don't hear the sewing machine clatter.

Since you are in Ohio, found something odd in old bikes, a fugly

I can imagine that idling that low it would be starving for oil. I'll take that into consideration when I own one. The lack of top end clatter was impressive. Even on the piece of crap I just looked at.

There are mechanical considerations too. When the engine runs slowly the crankshaft slows down as it reaches compression, then speeds up when that cylinder fires, with that cycle repeating for each cylinder. As a result the various moving/reciprocating components are put to undue stresses. When at factory idle the crankshaft speed is more uniform, there are no unnecessary stresses and all is sweetness and light!

Did you even give the guy an offer?
When I run into stuff like this I try not to be a dick about it but I'll straight up tell them I'm seeing half-assed repairs, oil leaks everywhere, and desperate need of a total rebuild. Then I ask them if the want to hear what I think it's worth. Sometimes they get butthurt but the truth does hurt.
That or they find some moron who's happy he got a shitty old bagger for $5000.

When the moment came I told him I'm going to move on because it needs far too much work. He started trying to defend himself and his repairs but I stuck to my guns and said it's not for me. He has other bikes and all of them are worth a fortune according to him so no I didn't give him an offer.
