What year and model? 97/98 Softail manual Says 97-32 oz, 98-26 oz and for the primary chain adjustment cold-5/8"-7/8", Hot-3/8"-5/8". If you set your chain to 1/2" it's very possible to only have a 1/4" play when hot... cold be too tight which can make it difficult to find neutral....

That spec is for the OEM chain adjuster.
OP is running a Hayden M6 (completely different critter).

Set lube level to just touch the outside diameter of the clutch shell.

Adjust clutch and cable according to service manual.

Do not expect miracles, neutral will never be as easy to find as on a metric bike, live with it.

I'm sure there is som break in time on that Hayden. I could always take out a shim. but I'll give it a little time. Took her out today and she shifted smoothly. I'll figure it out. May need to adjust the clutch again. But that's tomorrow. Long ride today. POOPED!

Do you have a dial indicator? If so take a measurement at the clutch adjusting locking nut... .080"is the desired amount is travel but can get away with .070". Anything under that can make it difficult to find nuetral...

Finding neutral at idle has never been easy on mine. While stopped I find neutral by blipping the throttle. While the rpms are above idle it will drop into neutral.
