I'll add to the ATF comments...

Mobil 1 syn ATF, along with 4 ounces of Lubeguard highly friction modified ATF supplement. I've tried just about everything else out there & nothing works as well. Easy neutral, less KLANK into 1st when cold.

Teardown after ~17k showed zero comp wear, and the whole interior of the primary is squeaky clean.

Do yourself a favor & give it a try, you can always drain it back out if you don't like it.

Well, I think I found out why I couldn't find neutral. Clutch friction plates were GONE!!!! Dry rotted and crumbled when I pulled them out. And 2 of the standouts were broken on the inner hub. The bike stood idle for a long time before I bought her in Nov. I guess they dry rotted and maybe it did a number on the standoffs. I did find some metal shavings when I drained it. Thank goodness I didn't ride it long before I found this. I I rode her for about 3-4 hours last Sat. and for about a hour Monday, and parked it. She was shifting too hard and I parked it and decided to put a new clutch in. Got the clutch yesterday, and found this mess today. And without looking at my book, is it easy to pull off and reinstall, (kind running in 50 directions today. top 2 standoffs broken
nothing left on the clutch plates

WHAT You mean you made a decision to put a clutch in without asking the forum first. Lord the nerve some people have.

Been following this and thought Yea another one that is tricky to find neutral on. Mine is as well.

Glad ya found something you can point a finger at and say Yup that's a problem

I'm pretty sure that may have been part of it. I bought her in Nov., and just been "remodeling her" like I said, I only rode her for about 5 hours since I got it. And here's where I'm at. Other than this, things are all good. I've replaced damn near everything else. Had a couple of my Hardcore biker buddies look her over, and the one told me it may be the clutch after he rode it. So, here we are.
