i'm looking at my official harley parts catalog, flt models 1984-1986, part number 99438-86b. page 127 shows the saddlebags but no part number for the lid or bag. i does show all the different latch hardware for 84-86. they only show 1 lid and it looks to be drilled different for the different hardware, so my guess would be, the lids are the same just drilled different for the different hardware.

The 85-92 lid part numbers are 90757-85 Left...90756-85 Right

The 80-84 lid part numbers are 90757-79A left... 90756-79A Right

They come pre-drilled...the correct year v-twin re-pops are out there if you look

And if you look at the curve on the end of the lid...looks like there is enough difference that the older hardware wouldn't fit quite right on the newer lid.

Tom, I think you're right about those lids. I don't recall ever seeing any of that earlier style, which are different again to the older smaller shovelhead ones. Could be quite a quest for Tim to find a fresh one.

it's strange that my parts book doesn't have part numbers for the bag or lid. it's the yellow one with the wheels, belt pulleys and the chain drive pic on the cover.

I don't see those numbers on my favourite parts website either. Odd indeed, but courtesy of Tom we know now!

I pulled the trigger and got one off of eBay. I believe I can piece together the rest of the hinges and parts needed to complete the job.
thanks to everyone for all your input/info
much appreciated😊

Drill the front bracket that holds it on, and put a "hairpin" in it...keeps um from flying off at speed.
