Mainshaft bearing race install/tool question

Mainshaft bearing race install/tool question
I'm finally getting around to installing a new S&S Cycle mainshaft bearing race (56-5089). I have a George's Garage mainshaft bearing race remover and installation tool (620060). When trying to install/push on the new S&S race, it seems as though the pusher tube is to long and I can't engage the threads with the nut. The S&S race is about 0.270" longer than the HD one. I'm guessing when George designed this tool, the pusher tube was machined for the stock HD bearing race. If I try using the nut without the washer, I'm not sure that would work since the nut doesn't seem to be wide enough to fit properly against the pusher tube.
Any suggestions?
Grey stuff in front of the race in the picture is assembly lube

I wanted to edit my previous post and add a picture, but I'm guessing that the moderator has turned off the ability to edit posts after a certain period of time.
Here is the 1" PVC tube on the George's Garage left hand-threaded extension, which is screwed into the mainshaft.
