1999 FXR3 Original Primary
#11
thanks for all the posts..I looked at the ebay post, and I don't need the inner or outer covers..I need the actual primary drive itself. I want to go back top chain..
here is what I found in the fatbook..I just don't know if it's everything I need. I need something tough to take the beating I usually give that bike..

Both the pages you have listed are for softail/dyna or a long primary.
You need FXR /touring or short primary.
You could find them used on ebay for pennies on the dollar.

I've heard nothing but bad things about those belts.
Get a PARTS manual and get the parts numbers and save the search eBay. These parts should be easy to find, rubbermount FXR and Touring use much of the same hardware.
I would rather get used Harley parts than the new Chicom catalog crap.

Yeah I'm done with the belt! I've tried contacting Rivera Primo, and they don't answer the phone or respond to emails. Great business..I have one last local option that I'll check out today. Hopefully this guy will have something in stock. I hear he's the type of guy that might have something like this lying around.. I just really want to get this problem fixed and start enjoying this bike again.

ok..so I went with the 37T Baker 9 plate street performance clutch..got the pinion gear and chain from Baker too. Now I'm shopping for the compensator sprocket. I have a chain final drive on the bike. The rear sprocket is 48T, I don't know what the other one. I'll be pulling the inner primary off to change the gasket so I'll count it then. I'm torn between a 23T and 24T compensator..any ideas? Pros and cons?
