Default 1999 FXR3 Original Primary

I hope this didn't double post...

So..I have a 1999 FXR3. When I bought the bike it had a ton of aftermarket mods done to it. One mod was the Rivera Primo belt drive. I've had a lot of issues with this belt drive. I've gone through about 3 belts. The final time it broke was a few weeks ago. At the time I thought it was the standard problem of the belt being shredded..This time I was gonna make sure the sprockets were aligned and everything was done properly. When we popped the outer primary off it looks like like one of the ferry cap screw backed out. I had the outer primary spaced out 1/4" all the way with spacers to keep air flow going over the belt to reduce heat. I knew that was a cause of belts shredding. When the screw backed out the spacer fell in, and rattled around causing hell on the primary. The rear sprocket is completely destroyed. I wanted to go back to the original chain drive anyway, so this is the catalyst in that change. I've been looking online trying to find a chain primary, but parts for this bike are always hard to find. Does anyone have any places I can look..I found a chain drive in drag specialties, but I don't know if it will work. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I could find a complete primary kit? All of the mods that were done to the bike were done before I bought it, so I don't have any parts laying around. The only mods I've done is the 113 S&S, and thunderheader. Thanks for your help.

Very nice bike. Any of the major aftermarket mags will have a primary chain for your bike. They will be fine even for your 113. However the stock clutch on an oem setup probably won't. Needs something stronger

Thanks for your replys...

I want to go back to chain completely, and close the primary. I found a kit in drag specialties, but it's not clear whether it would work in my bike's the whole assembly. I don't know if I can post the parts in here..It comes with the clutch and everything..So you're thinking I need a stronger clutch? Does S&S make a primary that would fit this bike?

I believe that you can use the inner primary from a Electra glide of the same year. Pretty sure that they’re the same part.

I thought this too... or Road King..
BTW Heat does Not normally kill Belts [in the primary]
One Friend has had one Completely Enclosed for Decades... Same belt..
another has One on an Ironhead!!!! yea enclosed and Wet!!! Ain't failed in???? quite a Few Years.
Alignment, and Improper Tension kills Belts... and "shock" tears the Teeth off!!!!!!
But... I can hear the Dissent now!!!!
"Everyone Knows ya Have to Vent a Belt Primary"!!!!
