Default What size screws to replace rivets on points cover?

Hi guys, I've been looking for an answer and I cant find one anywhere. What size screws do you use to replace the rivets on the points cover?

You already have them...when you drill out the cover...you remove the adapter that it was riveted to...turn the cam cover 90 degrees, and bolt it on where the adapter was bolted...confused yet?

I think they might be like 8-32 or maybe 6-32. The length will depend on how thick your cover is. But like Tom said, the rivets mount the cover vertically and the screws will be positioned horizontally.

Use 6-32 button head or socket head screws and thread them into the threaded stand-offs that hold the sensor plate. Get a plain timer cover so it won’t be “sideways” when mounted with horizontal screws.

When mine was made it was drilled for a Sportster but that was an easy fix.

If you want to use the stock cover tap the rivet holes to 10-32 & use screws to attach the outer cover instead of the rivets.

In lieu of finished article, I went a different way. I actually like the pop rivets so I bought a tool from O-Reilly and now I can rivet to my heart's content. Way more secure than screws. Plus, I like the OE V2 cover, so I want to keep that part as stock as possible.

If you used regular pop rivets they may have "popped" the nail head off, and into the space behind the cover. Not a good thing to have that debris hopping around near the components in there.

Well said. No, I ordered a couple sets of kosher rivets (PN 8699) from Ronnies https://www.ronniesmailorder.com/. The tool from the auto parts store installs them perfectly.
