First time mistake. Did not realize how critical the bearing positioning really was. Insufficient torque when I let the locktite setup the first time left the races too far apart from each other, which caused the bearings to bind. Won't make that mistake again.

The swingarm is still a little tighter than I expected it to be, but not nearly as tight as it was yesterday.

Now on to figuring out how to mount that battery...

Don't know if my solution for the battery under the seat is something for you, but a little bit down her

Good to see you have gotten ahead the bearing thing.

When we did mine (friend and I) the swingarm was just stiff enough it took 3 fingers and fair amount of pressure to move it.

That was awhile back tho.

Thanks for that! Excellent. That's simpler and more elegant than what I had been thinking. Actually, looks like doing it your way will be a snap!

Made me go check! I can move it up or down with one finger. A firm finger, but not hard to do.*

I think I'm good to go.

Mocked up a modified version of lillemann's battery box design.

Got the idea of doing it in two pieces. First one is the bracket that will mount under that cross arm on the frame:

Then a second box that will bolt to the first and hold the battery:

I tried doing it in one piece first, but ended up not being able to get it to fit into the frame.

The battery is so ridiculously light this cardboard mockup (just sitting in the frame) will hold it:

Need to fine-tune the template a bit, but I think this will work.

Got the swingarm stuff buttoned up. Pivot shaft nuts are locktited and torqued, footrest brackets are finished off. That amounts to the first thing that's done done on the project.

Coming together. Mostly just need to final weld the joints and a bit of smoothing and metal finishing, and I think this is going to work out fine.
