Turned out to be perfect in every way. Had just enough booze in me to tolerate everything and everyone. I think the smile is still lingering. I do, however, miss my youngest son. He lives in San Diego now and I have not seen him in over a year.

Well, I already posted a pic of our devoured turkey, so not much more to add.

FWIW, a friend of mine put me onto roasting turkeys on the grill 20 years ago. Done it that way ever since.

Couldn't be easier. Cut up a few apples and stuff them in the bird. Salt and pepper because it seems like the right thing to do. Buy one of those disposable roasting pans at the store. Get a good fire going. Once it's good and hot, separate the coals into two sections and push them to the sides of the grill. Put on the grate, drop the turkey in the middle, put on the lid, and you're set. I'll usually add more coal about two hours in, and that's enough to finish it.

You just can't screw this up. The bird comes out looking like a Norman Rockwell painting.

well, since lowly non Evo owners can participate, then Happy belated Thanksgiving to all my Evo brothers.
This is not my favorite time of year. Weather usually sets the stage for a big drop in enthusiasm. But I persevere because there's always better days ahead.

I believe I’ll give that a try!

I’m preparing for that now. My son will be leaving in 6 months for a 2 year tour of duty with Cummins Engine.

He has been the son I thought I would never have.

We are are mega blessed with 2 fine children.

I know that pain and it takes awhile for it to lessen. Spend as much time as possible now with him, that you can, because this time will pass quickly. The time he is gone goes ever so slow. But if they are happy that is all you can ask for. I didn't realize how him leaving would effect me emotionally.
