Well, I already posted a pic of our devoured turkey, so not much more to add.
FWIW, a friend of mine put me onto roasting turkeys on the grill 20 years ago. Done it that way ever since.
Couldn't be easier. Cut up a few apples and stuff them in the bird. Salt and pepper because it seems like the right thing to do. Buy one of those disposable roasting pans at the store. Get a good fire going. Once it's good and hot, separate the coals into two sections and push them to the sides of the grill. Put on the grate, drop the turkey in the middle, put on the lid, and you're set. I'll usually add more coal about two hours in, and that's enough to finish it.
You just can't screw this up. The bird comes out looking like a Norman Rockwell painting.

I know that pain and it takes awhile for it to lessen. Spend as much time as possible now with him, that you can, because this time will pass quickly. The time he is gone goes ever so slow. But if they are happy that is all you can ask for. I didn't realize how him leaving would effect me emotionally.
