Default Regulator fried my stater?

The newly installed regulator has fried my stater and I don't see how that is possible. Anyone ever hear of this?

I have seen bad regulators fry batteries but not stators.

I'll bet the regulator is good and the stator was the problem.. remember a regulator will get hot... And could melt the packing (insulator) out make sure you have a good ground... You going with a complete Cycle Electric?

The elec system was working fine till I changed the regulator. The correct reg was installed. Now the Stater is going to ground.
Will see what cycle electric will do for me today.

Another possibility is the stator connector at the block gets soft from exposure to heat, primary oil, age etc and the actual metal connector pins can move possibly causing the stator to short. Maybe when you changed the regulator the pins moved?

Guess it don’t matter now.

I know now there has been plenty of burned/melted contact pins because of this problem as well. YD

Since you put on a new CE regulator, it is more likely a coincidence, unless you got a bad CE regulator, then that would suck. Anyway, a new stator and you'd be set.
