Base gaskets leaks
#11
the sound as we know, comes from the Metal composition of the Top end... and neither will ever match an all iron Top... Knuck/I.H.
especially if you add Compression.....
that, and the "warm up" to tighten the "sandwich" is not really a factor... No Sandwich!!!!!

Completely Dry Gasket on Installation?
When installing new base gaskets (93 EVO motor) Is it essential to keep all oil off the new gaskets? There is so much oil in the process of getting the cylinders and pistons all back together that is seems impossible to keep oil off the new Base Gaskets.

Was selling an Evo and the guy, probably knowledgeable, pointed and said you have a leaking gasket, when I started it up. I said yep, let it run and warm, and pointed and said I don't see a leak. Yes, he bought it, but he tried.

Second you should start a new thread for each new question.
What kind of base gaskets are you installing?

I hope your OEM set is MLS...... I've never used Harley gaskets...
At the beginning of the Evo Classic section there's an orange rectangle, top left... Click it and proceed.....

The best thing you can do is return those gaskets to the dealer and order a set of either Cometic or James steel gaskets.
IIRC you need a 20 thou base gasket and a 30 thou head gasket.
The base gasket will be SLS which stands for single layer steel.
The head gasket will be MLS which stands for multi layer steel.
