Yes you can, however be aware that compressed air is a spring, so running some air pressure effectively adds an extra spring to your forks. Remove all the air system and your forks are likely to be too soft, sag more than they should and give you a poor ride. The least you should do IMHO is change to a set of single-rate springs, matched to your weight. Race Tech sell them and also provide a chart on their website so you can work out which springs to buy. You could also consider getting Ricor Intiminators, to provide improved damping. Race Tech sell Emulators, so it is tempting to buy them, but whereas I have been happy with Intiminators I haven't had success with Emulators and can't recommend them.

The air is a good compression system and takes a lot off streenoff the springs. Allowinh them to last much longer.
only problem with any air system though, is lack of gauges. Hard to tell hiw much pressure you’re running with out a gauge
Testing pressure with a tire pressure readining is fine. Buy we use so ittle air that by the time we have a reading, all the air is out of the system
