Default Oil seal replacement on Main drive gear

1985 FXWG
Bike has a 4 speed, Evo engine. Has belt drive on rear.
My Main drive gear on tranny needs the small inner seal replaced (HD # 12013A) The large main seal does not leak. (HD # 37741-82) How do i get the old inner one out?? How do I get the new on in? The spacer on the main shaft will need to come off and back on. Any ideas will appreciate.Thanks.

I'm pretty sure it's the spacer where the oil is coming from... They wear and leak pretty good. . Might want to post this in the Primary/Transmission/Drive line Forum. Or better yet over in the shovel head section there's some real good guys over there (John, Twisted Panz and a few others) that really know them trans like the back of there hand.. they were used for quite a few years in the shovels. I believe the 84, 4 speed Evo was a one year thing and then came the 5spd, they would know for sure..

Use a pick to get it out and use a tube the correct size (plastic will do) to knock it back in.

As far as the FXWG - 84 was shovel, 4 speed w/kick, rear belt. 85 and 86 were Evo, 4 speed w/kick, rear belt.
FXST softail - 84 and 85 were Evo, 4 speed w/kick, rear chain. 86 was Evo, 5 speed no kick, rear belt.

This thread is not about what came with what... It's about an oil leak... Try leaving this one at that... Ok?

your post was good, until the last sentence, which is all I was correcting.
some people like accuracy, some don't care.

As far as the leak, my 4 speed shovel had a similar leak and I used a spacer that has an oring machined into it. It worked great to correct the problem. You can search ebay seller saddlebagrail.
I know the original question is about an Evo 85 Wide Glide, I have one of those also, but the spacer may be the same.

Tap seal with 1/4" flat blade screwdriver, rotating the seal till a lip rises and you can then peal seal away from the main drive gear.
I've used the George's Garage Main Drive Gear seal installer tool. It sets the seal to the proper depth. Other people have used plastic pipe as suggested by Spanners39 above.
The tool from George's Garage also includes a seal protector pilot,

The real problem is the bushing in the main drive gear is worn out...any "fix" will be short lived until you replace it...
