1997bagger,

Thank you for taking the time to point that out. Looks like the Cobra Powrpro may be the only solution unless I find a 97-98 ECM

Put up a request for an ECM in the EVO section. One of the guys who converted to carb might have one he would sell you cheap.

Evo's HD upgrade was SE3 which is EV27 numbers, they only installed the red injectors with the upgrade and is factory on 99-01 Twinkies. The flash cartrage with the kit only raised the rev limiter, no fuel addition because the red injectors put more fuel in by the same injector pulse width signal so that was all it was.

If you go with a EV13 keep it simple, the cam is basically raising the compression by early intake valve closing and slightly opening the valve further. If you were going with high compression, performance exhaust then a complex tuner comes in and a 97-98 ecm is needed. Your 96 ecm with a Cobra will support a EV13 or EV27 but by the earlier paragraph red injectors was the moco's upgrade.

Well I'm strongly leaning towards the EV-13 cam, KN high flow filter (holes drilled in the backing plate) and the Cobra Powrpro Fi2000. I did find this post feom 96roadking so this has me feeling better:

I have a 96 road King with M&M. A ran a Rev tech tuner when I upgraded cam and pipes and air intake but I could never get a flat spot tuned out of it. I switched to a Cobra FI2000 powrpro and no more flat spot. I can believe people have issues with M&M but so far no real problems with mine.

I sent him a PM to see how things worked out in the long run (post was in 2012)

One thing I forgot to mention was my Road King does have a Baker DD6 transmission. How would this impact the decision between the EV-13 and the EV-27?

For a cam selection, None in my opinion. What are you running for a rear pulley . With that cam and trans, a 70 tooth rear pulley would work real well.....

If your DD6 has the 28 tooth comp sprocket that comes with it, 6th gear is at .86 and a EV27 80" Evo is not going to work because it's power is in the 2500 rpm range, downshifting and higher RPM's will be the final product.
Stock compression, heavy bike, .86 6th gear, think you need to not talk yourself out of the EV13, the 6th gear .86 pretty much makes the decision easy. Light bike is EV27 area or more compression with the big bike can work a EV27.

Personally since you have the DD6, wouldn't waste any money on the 80" and put a S&S 111" in because those 2 would be peanut butter and jelly together, the DD6 is made for horsepower.

Sorry I mistook the DD6 for the OD6. if you do have the 28 comp sprocket, I would highly suggest doing the rear pulley to a 70 tooth "IF" your primary is a 28/37 and your secondary is a 32/65. it would make a huge difference with the 13 cam. 1st/10.89, 2nd/7.40, 3rd/5.40, 4th/4.16, 5th/3.32 and 6th/2.89.
it would really get up and go but still have very nice cruising 65-70...

Evo baggers have a 70 rear pulley from the factory
