Don't those holes bypass the element?

No. They are around the outside edge.

Thanks for the pictures Crashone. I ended up finding a high flow aluminum backing plate on eBay so I ended up going with that along with a KN high flow filter and my stock aircleaner cover

Shop ordered the breather hardware from a carburetor model which they claim can be made to fit rather easily.

Ev-13 cam, Torrington bearing and Power Commander V ordered.

Bike picked up Friday on a balmy -14 degree day. Now the waiting begins. With sub zero days mostly forecast for the next 10 days I guess I'm no hurry.

Thank you to everyone who helped me on this decision.

Leave what works alone and ride it forever..None of what you said is an upgrade. Unless WOT is not enough.

Your going to love the way that RK runs with that EV-13 in it. Look into RaceTech single rate springs for the front end.

Looking forward to the first ride .Been a rough winter so may not be able to try it out for another 6 weeks or so. Going to suck waiting.

BTW My bike has progressives up front and Ohlins in the back already.

Default Keep the MM

97 Ultra Evo 27, new cam bearing, lifters, PCIII, new temp sensor, and high Compression pistons. Runs Great wish I would have done it all at once but now it's right. I got the power commander map from a Guy on this forum . Let me know I can send it to you.

You'll have a mile wide grin for sure. Lots of low end torque and plenty of power in up. You'll have to update this thread when the weather clears and you can run it.
Sounds like you're good to go on the suspension.

I'll talk to the tech and find out what map he plans to use. I'll make him aware of your map. You are running higher compression and a cam that responds better to compression so hopefully it's close enough. Definitely appreciate the offer.
