here are the differences I found from the Spec Sheet in the 1996 Model Lineup Book … here are a couple photos as well … it looks like in 1996 HD used the names of Special and Nostalgia for the same bike

FLSTC - FLSTN
Seat Height inches / 26.5 - 25.75
Dry Weight Lbs. / 704 - 638
Fuel Capacity Gal /. 4.2 - 5.2 w/Fat Boy Emblems
Exhaust Fishtails / Staggered Duals - Shotgun Duals
Color Choice / Multiple - Only Mystique Green/Platinum Silver

Other than the above differences between the models the FLSTC has the following …Windshield, Passenger Back Rest with Pad, and Passing Lamps. The FLSTN came with Wide Whitewall Tires.

Cant seem to post the link on this work computer, but ebay has the stock (used) timing covers from time to time as well. Search "Harley V2 timing cover" or "Harley evo timing cover". YD

Actually only the ‘93 is a “Nostalgia.” ‘94-‘96 were called the “ Heritage Softail Special.”

We called them "Flintstone's," after "FLSTN."

I think one was used in the movie Flintstone's too.

I gave my 1996 product guide to the guy that bought my 1996 RK, many years ago.

I remember there was a 45rpm record that had the sounds of the Evo engine. Also, the bike cooling with it's "tick, tick, tick" sounds. Pretty underwhelming actually.

I still have the 1996 Touring Handbook (North America.)

PM me if you want it. Your cost is shipping.

Got the 1998 edition too.

Hi!

Thanks all!

FreedomRider
thanks for the pics! this was exactly what i was looking for!

From these pics, i could addionally see that differ:
blinkers on bar
harley logo on gas tank
Mirrors?? round vs square?

unfortunately , these photos show differente sides, from those 2 versions, not easily comparable!

thanks

Seems like mine did not come with fishtail pipes!
Could this be a difference between US and European versions?
Can I just buy the fishtail ends and bolt them on, or must i change the exhausts altogether?

Thanks
