I was thinking that too...Im not really worried about seat height. It's just another $400..And I was wondering if it was $400 better...It probably is. I don't want to wish I got the 14" down the road...Better just get the 14" shock..

Howard at Motorcycle Metal is putting a quote together for me. We'll see how it compares to Kraus Motorsports..

So I'm thinking about going with these wheels...classic and not too expensive. I was looking at Ryd wheels and they were double this price...

Stingray,

The wheels on your '94 right now aren't stock FXR wheels. They look a lot like the FXDX wheels I currently have on my '93 FXR. My FXDX wheels use a 1" axle, and have sealed bearings. If I'm not mistaken, the older FXR wheels use a 3/4" axle, and don't have sealed bearings. Someone here correct me if I'm wrong. If I'm right, it's something for you to consider (added expense/pain in the ***).

What's wrong with the wheels on the bike right now?

the wheels I have on the bike right now aren't stock..when I first bought the bike 8 years ago, I was going to make it a springer bobber (I know you want to punch me in the face right now, but I woke up)so I changed out the original wheels and the front end (it had a wide glide front end). Now that I'm fully awake and off the dope (jk) I want to do right by this bike. So I'm selling the front end and the spoke wheels and going for the FXRT look..

I think I got the front end taken care of. Just waiting on Howard at Motorcycle Metal to send me the quote. I've moved onto the fairing now. It looks like it's going to be between JD Customs, BMC, or Dragonfly Concepts. What do you all think?

The other rims that look good on an FXR are the Thunderstar. Real easy to keep clean as well.

Russ Wernimount(?) has a fairing for the FXR that looks like factory-ish. I've never touched one so I can't attest to the quality but I do have one of his rear fenders and it is very well built.
