Default Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Removal

Hey folks!

I'm trying to troubleshoot the fuel gauge on my 1993 Electra Glide Ultra Classic. To start, I'd like to remove the sending unit from the tank. Sadly, I can't find any instructions in my Service Manual. Can anyone please provide step-by-step instructions to remove and inspect it? Also, would you please let me know if there are any gaskets I have to buy in advance.

Thanks!

-Dave

There is a gasket for the "gauge to tank" and you can check it and the gauge, for proper operation without removing it with an Ohm meter

Here is a link to replacing the fuel pump which includes the removal of the sending
unit.

Pretty sure those torx head machine screws that hold the sender flange down to the tank are a one time use sealing machine screw. May be able to get away re-using but, something to consider is replacing those along with the gasket. YD

Dave, your bike is carb, so only has a sender unit. If you haven't discovered them yet there are parts websites, which show the components involved. Remove the chrome console on top of your tank and you should find a round unit with a couple of wires attached, held onto the top of the tank by five screws. That is your sender unit.
