Mounting early Evo (case breather) stock round air cleaner on S&S Super E.
Anybody ever do it? Did you get the stock bracket to mount to the carb and heads?

 

I did it, I made a bracket out of flat stick aluminum. I drilled two holes and screwed them into the S&S bracket where the front of the air cleaner goes and on the other end I drilled one hole that would land in the middle.

 

I did much the same thing. It wasn't hard at all. It worked out fine.

 

I think they make an adapter for that, store-bought. I went the other way and put a S&S air cleaner on a Buell throttle body with an adapter I made from the top of a 22R piston.

 

After looking at all options, I've decided to install the Stealth kit from S&S. It takes care of the back plate, carb support, filter, and enrichener, all in one kit.
I know I could have easily tackled each of those things separately, but an all-in-one solution seemed best.
I'll post pics later today when I install it.
Looking forward to getting back to the OE round air cleaner with the Wide Glide designation.

I had never seen a picture of one mounted on a bike before.
Did you take pictures of the various stages of the install?

 

The one I got is for the early case breathers. It doesn't have ears that attach to the heads. It has a carb support that attaches to the lower carb/intake bolt and the center case bolt near the cylinder bases. Quite simple and effective. The instruction sheet is on the S&S website. Very well made piece.
