Motor Mount DIY

Motor Mount DIY
Hey guys- Started to get some very out of the ordinary vibrations today. Hearing a thunk over the speed humps in my neighborhood and hard vibrations in my floorboards (left more than right). Really any time other than accelerating.
After reading quite a few threads here I am guessing it is the motor mount- is that a DIY or take to dealer? Also how much to replace- just the mount (https://www.jpcycles.com/product/433...ly-for-fxr-flt) or the whole thing https://www.jpcycles.com/product/433...ly-for-fxr-flt

As for DIY or dealer it depends on how good you are with tools.

I'm with Omaha and Rip53. You have something else going on. It's not JUST the front motor mount. You may very well need the whole kit in the link you posted. First figure out what broke...and (if possible)...WHY it broke.
The good news is that as mentioned, replacing the "whole thing" ( motor mount and front plate) for as critical as it is, turns out to be one of the easiest tasks you can do on a Harley, and if you go with one of the more traditional offerings, it's pretty cheap as Harley parts & accessories go.
I just went through it with ZERO issues, and I'm nobody's idea of a "wrench". Lots of U-Tube videos, and good advice here as well. The motor company has gone through something like 4 different rubber compounds trying to get it right. I'm not sure which one of theirs has become the "Fav". We see that Omaha chose "Glide-Pro", which gets a lot of good reviews. There are other hi-tech options, different compounds, etc.. I went with "Kinetic Structures" on my 1985 FXRS, to try something new: https://dirtycustomz.com/products/fr...-flhx-fltr-flt.
(I'm loving it so far, but I just put it on this past February and only have 3,000 mi. on it so I can't comment on longevity.)
