Dynatek settings for kicker only evo
Can anyone tell me the optimum timing settings for my dynatek 2000i module?
i have a 1340 evo
S&S super e
2” drag pipes fitted with manifold cones
kicker only 5 speed box
gotta check the coil but I think it’s a stock dual fire/ single coil
no VOES fitted
the dynotek rep gave me the curve to set which is different to what was set by my mechanic
any help very much appreciated

If you have the Dynatek 2000i software you can reprogram the ignition with a seperate patch cable sold in te link,

and change the dead revs to 0. If you don't have the software cd you can download it from their site... I would use curve 2 and depending on the build of your motor, i would set the rev limit to 6000 rpm and single or dual fire. You can also set the aggressiveness of the timing curve and again based on your build change the values in the right hand column from 31*@3750 to 31*@3450 and 35*@5000 rpm to 35*@4000 rpm (just used as an example, your build will determine how aggressive of a curve you can utilize) then save it. Save it as curve 5 then when you have the patch cable hooked up load curve five on your laptop and then click upload. Keep in mind, once you upload a customized curve, the dip switches on the ignition are no longer being used. However your still able to static time the motor. You just need to know whats good for your motor...

So your set to, voes normal (but not grounding), curve 3, 6000 RPM and single fire ignition... On my 77 shovel in using curve 2, set it up by the direction for full 35* advance and never had issues kick starting... Are you having a problem? I would use curve 2 and set the ignition as said by Dynatek. Front piston on TDC and rotate the timing plate till the light comes on and then rotate it back till it just goes off lock it down you're good to go. These ignition don't start advancing the timing till it seems at least 500 rpmAnd with that said it should be at 0*till started and running..

If you use the programming cable and Curvemaker software to set the dead revs to zero, you can set the ignition back to use switches from the Curvemaker diagnostics tab. Just click the "Use switches" button and the dead revs will stay at zero as you set them. Being able to use the switches on the side of the road could be useful.

Make sure the pink wire is connected to the rear coil, and blue to the front. If they are reversed it won't start in single fire mode. Also double check that you are using the correct timing mark. Pull the front plug and find the TDC compression mark. Stick your finger in the hole and have someone kick it until it pops your finger out.
