Default 97-07 tour pack QD mount on older evo touring

Hey all, I had asked about this before but want to double check in the EVO group before I start running down this road. So, I have the 1992 FLHTCU. It didn't have a tour pack or mount when I bought it. I bought a factory 1992 mount (the sheetmetal kind) off ebay and then found a used 2006 pack. It came with a QD rack. I took the tour pack, took off the QD, and machined a couple of aluminum bars so I could bolt down the tour pack on to the 1992 mount. It works great and looks decent.

However, I really want to convert it into a QD setup so i can take off the tour pack, change to a sissy bar, or ride without anything. It is my understanding I can change to a QD setup from 1997-2008 (range) and it will work.

Is this true? Do I have to make anything to adapt the QD system?

I have a 2007 Ultra and a 1995 Road King. I took measurements of QD mounting holes. They are the same. The only difference is on the 07 Ultra the bolt that goes though the fender is the front one. On the 95 RK the bolt that goes through the fender is the rear one. That is the top mount. I used the same QD setup for both from ebay.

That does look like it will just bolt up. On top of everything, I just realized today that my 1992 bike actually has a 1993 style frame, at least in regards to how the very end of the frame (under the tourpak) connects to the rest of the frame.

My frame has the solid rods welded to the very end of the frame. Ronnies and a good friend of mine (looked up another source) both show FLT frames in 1992 had tabs welded on the very end of the main frame. 1993 has the tabs welded onto the U shaped bracket that the license plate attaches to.

A sincere thanks for all the help

So here are 3 pics of what I have and my understanding of how it attaches.

Does the front post go in place of one of the 2 upper screws?

That does help! Thanks!

It sure looks like it's the same. I still don't know about the 92/93 frame difference. Is mine a fluke, toward the end of 1992 and they started using '93 frames or are the drawings on Ronnie's and elsewhere wrong?

The 93 frame has slugs welded into the frame for extensions, the earlier frame received the slug attached to mount. The bolts that come with the kit will be wrong thread. Early bolts are coarse where the later are fine. Your pic is correct with the drawn lines. The QD mounts are bolted to the fender support. The snafu for the early frame is that the tour pack mount incorporates the frame joiner or U bracket. Doesn't appear to be the case in your application, from the pic you posted.
