Default Engine ignition & power

I have a 95 electra glide a year ago it started running bad, no power, when you hit the throttle it would backfire, took it to a shop they said it was the carburetor, so I replaced with a S&S super E, It doesn't cutout anymore, but when I first crank it, it has decent power not like it should, but when get hot, it loses power, feels like something breaking down, when I'm going down the rode at a steady speed it sounds like it coughs or misfires, every once in a while, I have replace plugs & wires, people tell me it the carb not jetted right but I had at 3 Harley shop 1 with dyno, & it still does the same thing, can anyone give me advice on what to do cause I'm chasing a ghost & its frustrating

What we called that is the "Keihin Cough" back in the day... Carburetor is a [small] touch lean at the bottom.. Especially if Cough is arbitrary, at steady throttle..

There is a section in the service manual on how to test the ignition pickup in the nose cone, they get hot and can act weird. Is there a brown goo coming out of it? If in doubt for $40 on eBay you can purchase a standard motor products SPA -MC3 Hall effect pickup That's a direct replacement for your Deutsch connections. Just scribe where the old pickup is timed and install the new one. I've used them a lot with no issues...

Also it could be a coil that when gets hot could causes issues as well... Ohm test the coil hot and cold It's all in the service manual... Good luck 👍

Mine do just that.
Disapears if applying just a bit of choke.

Must come around and adjust the carb!

Although it is Not "tuning" ... you will probably find that about an extra 1/4 turn out on the idle Jet [needle] will make that go away...
the Tune of the carb is Incorrect...

it could be the ignition circuit breaker too. my 85 was doing something similar it turned out to be the breaker. I replaced all the breakers, 1-30 amp main breaker and all of the 15 amp breakers.

Hotrod, am looking at the CPS you mentioned for my 98 Ultra. Looks like I have to use old connector and plug in new sensor wires to it. Instructions included for wire colors, or do colors match? HD sensor=$219.

If you need to change your CPS then do yourself a favor and get a Dynatek 2ki and use that instead of the stock stuff.
