well i finally have almost all my leaks fixed but still have a really small leak from what appears to be the oring on the lifter screen plug. my question is, do i have to drain the oil to remove the plug and change the oring, is oil going to start coming out of it.
Well, I pulled my plug yesterday to inspect the screen and it did slowly leak oil out....it continued slowly seeping out until I replaced the plug. If you have to replace your O-Ring, just have somone put a finger over the hole while you replace the O-Ring and you'll only lose a little oil.
What size is that O-RIng so I don't have to guess... Also need to know the size of O-Ring at oil pressure sending unit?
Thanks!
Not sure what the o ring size for plug is, but sending unit has NPT threads so it doesn't have an o ring, just use a little teflon tape or thread sealer. Just don't get it on the first few threads, don't want that stuff getting in your oil passage.
I just had to replace that same O Ring. I pulled the plug out and put a shop towel over it, and went to Napa and had them match up the O Ring, when I got back there was a little oil on the shop towel, but not much.
I won't quote everbody above but they are all right. You will lose a little oil but don't worry about it. Jumped in to say I thought I had the same problem but the nosecone gasket was leaking right by the lifter screen plug. Just gave me a reason to swap a cam though!!
