Broken Heat Shield

One of the clips on my front heat shield broke off.
I am wondering what happens to all the heat shields that are removed when a new exhaust system gets installed? Must be a big box of them somewhere?

If you have one in your garage, give me a PM for a sale.
Mine's a 98 but probably up to 05 will fit.

Thanks

Check out your local dealers and shops. Don't forget the swap meets. You can drill it and pop rivet it for a temporary fix. Hope this helps.

Or just touch it with the MIG.

Might have one, saw a pile of them in a shed I'm cleaning up for a friend yesterday. Got a close up picture of it?

Has anyone tried this?

go to a hardware store and get a small stainless bolt, lock washer and a acorn nut. drill a hole through the clip and shield. put the stainless hardware in. done

Thanks.
Was going to try welding it but never got around to it.
I JB Welded it, and that lasted until I started the bike...
then I just put a worm clamp around the whole heat shield.

Ended up getting a set of heat shields off ebay for $5 (+ $20 shipping)
Found out both heat shields were broken on the end clip. I guess 10 years will do that.

I still believe there must be hundreds of stock heat shiels somewhere, with all the full exhaust system replacements out there.

There are boxes full of heat shields.....anything from Dyna's, Sportsters, and FLH models. Lots of dealers and indys have them.....just have to ask.

Mine broke the heat shield right under the foot peg

just run a polished stainless hoseclip around the outside of the head shield, nobody will even notice and it will outlast the exhaust system
