I've been lurking and researching on the Forum here for a few months.
I bought my first Harley yesterday and joined the Forum today.
'97 Road King
I was shopping for a Twin Cam RK but I really wanted an Evo. Luck dropped this one in my lap and I scooped it up.
Other than the pipes and engine guard it's all stock as far as I know. I plan on leaving it as is for a while and just riding it.
I bought it for traveling, I hope to do a cross country trip when I retire in a year or so.
I started riding dual sports about 10 years ago and have taken a few trips on my BMW GS.
Buying this bike was something I've wanted since I was about 11 years old, sitting on the new AMF era Harley's in the dealership in MN.

The penalty for riding without a windshield. I am 78 years old, and love riding without a windshield. I wear a half helmet and goggles to keep them out of my eyes at least. I like the wind on me, and have never liked the buffeting most windshieds give. So, you eat a bug once in a while. Part of the wonder of the wind. Although, if I get stung by a bee, I pull over at once. I am allergic to them little critters.
Besides, My 99 FXSTC does not look right with a windshield. Of course, I usually do not do 90 down the interstate either. I take the back roads and ride at my own pace. That is why we ride EVO's.
