Just got down to this thread... I love my '95 FLHTP. It's actually a Police E-Glide, even though it has the windshield and looks more like a Road King to the "uninitiated". It was only made in 94 and 95, and was replaced by the Police RK in 96.
I haven't ridden a twinkie bagger, so I can't really compare, but I have no trouble keeping up with them. She'll run 90+ and not complain. Much more than that, and the gigantic 2" over-wide aftermarket windshield steps in and says "I don't think so, dude... I'm not comfortable with this." She doesn't exactly have the best aerodynamics.
Last year I was riding 2-up with my wife, with about 6 or 7 other riders all on twinkie baggers of various sorts. We all took off from a traffic light on a highway going out of a town, and none of them passed me. I even popped a 4" wheelie with full-on throttle in second gear (which was probably helped by my wife being on the back!) A bit later we all stopped, and one of the guys who was riding an '08 Road Glide said "Wow, I can't believe it! You popped a wheelie on that thing"! It was a little scary, but it was nice being in the lead. I kind of have to believe that they weren't using full-on throttle like I was though. They probably didn't want to wind up their much newer engines all the way like I did... after all, they were all still making payments!
Just a couple of weeks ago I was riding next to a guy on a 2003 Anniversary Road King, and we blipped a few times on the highway. He commented that my bike pulled really strong. He was running a SE air cleaner and V&H Big Oval slip-ons, but he never passed me either... but maybe he too wasn't willing to really get on it either.
So I guess it runs pretty good! Can't wait to see what an EV-27 cam, and some head milling or SE heads will do! Can't think of much else to do without getting into the innards with hi-comp pistons or a big bore kit. I'm not quite ready to do that yet!
