my wide glide has the original "bobtail" fender, my question is this...does anyone know of a taillight without the license plate bracket that I could use underneath the fender, where the standard taillight w/ license plate bracket goes? I just want to side mount the plate and keep the taillight where it is. I just hate the way the tag looks hanging down from my rear fender in the stock configuration. but a "bobtail" fender looks strange without a taillight so a side mount license bracket with taillight is out of the question.

The last one i done,I just took a peice of stainless fabed it to fit inside the fender and put a small led taillight on it.

 

At first I tried to fabricate a new bracket, but finally just used a die grinder with a cut off wheel to remove the license plate bracket. Grind everything nice & smooth, bead blast it, & powdercoat it. Works great, won't break, & looks clean.

would look even better if you went with shorter shocks to lower the rear.

 

an 04 dyna doesn't really fit in the evo classic category. you might get more accurate info for your bike in the dyna section.

 

I fabbed up a plate and tucked it up inside the fender with an LED cateye light with a skull lens. I didn't like the looks of the light sticking outside the end of the fender. Mine still has the tag hanging off the bottom but it is angled to the contour of the tire

 

I agree. The tire is just a tad too wide though. I plan on lowering the rear when the time comes for a new tire.

 

the bike is a 86' fxwg EVO with a 4 spd kickstart.
