Default Another 94-96 Road King Question

Is it possible to adapt a 97-07 Road King Highway Bar to fit 94-96 Road Kings?

Thanks

Yes, its really easy. You can actually get the lower bolts through the holes. But the fitment is a lot better if you just drill new lower holes. I'm running a bar off a 2005 on my '95.

This may be a question already asked, why are the 94-96 Road King's different. I just picked up a 96 Road King and could'nt be happier. The EVO just purr's when woken up and talking with people from all sort's, they all comment how the EVO is the hands down preferred motor of all HD bikes.

Second question is, I love the look of the Corbin 2-up seat it came with, however, I would pick-up in a second a King Tour Pack, would the 97-up models fit my bike with the present docking station I have???

Thanks in advance,

I bought a harley kit on ebay for 94-96 Road Kings and when I put it on my bike it looked just like my friends 2003 kit. If the is a diffrence we could not find it.

The 94-96 Road Kings are "different" because the RK came out initially in 94, replacing the old FLHS, and the frame changed on all of the touring bikes in 97... so the RK 94-96 are one frame, and the 97-and later are another frame. The frames aren't actually all that different though... they changed the touring frame in 97 to accommodate a larger battery under the seat, and as a result the rear end is about 1/4" wider. That's why you see all of H-D accessories that only fit "97 and later". The gas tank also changed in 96 as well.

I fitted a detachable Tour Pak mounting rack (H-D P/N 53276-04) to Bertha, my 95 FLHTP. It's what's holding up her Tour Pak in my sig pic below. You simply shim out the 4 docking point mounting bolts (the ones that come in the detachable hardware mounting kit H-D P/N 53804-06) with a SS washer on each one, to move the mounting points out a just bit to line up perfectly with the "97 and later" detachable TP mounting rack slots... Easy!

I rigged up the lights for the light bar on my tour pak using a 4-pin connector for a trailer hitch, and that black plastic split tubing to house the wires. I also have 6 1/2" Kenwood speakers in Dragonfly Concepts pods that I hooked up with a second 4-pin connecter. I can take the Tour Pak off the bike in 1 minute flat and put it back on in 2 minutes - including hooking up the lights!

When it's off the bike, the wires tuck down by the saddlebags, or I can put them under the seat if I want a really clean look. You don't even notice the detachable hardware on the bike when the tour pak is removed. It's by far the best way to mount a tour pak!

Thank you sir, so basically its all the same. A person told me that in Rider Magazine the editors claimed that the 94-96 Road kings were the most disirable bikes. Any thruth to that????

Thanks again.
