Default Headlights

I see there's a few threads on headlights, but I'm not sure any have answered my question. So, I figured I'd start a new one..

I'm searching for a new headlight for my '94 Wide Glide and my wife's '05 Sporty.. The critera is that it must actually light the road. Stock HD lamps are horrible. I live in the country and deer sightings are a frequent. From what I've read, projector lamps are among the best. I do have a little experience with HID's for cars and like them except for the high amperage and extra space needed for a ballast.. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. Personal experience and pic's would be great.. I'm trying to stay away from the simple "blue fog lights" that everyone seems to like as a replacement bulb.

I also live in deer country and that stock 5.5" head light is about worthless. I tried different/more powerful bulbs, a little better but still not good. The issue is that a single headlight can only point in one direction.

Take a look at my signature pic.

That is a 7.5" Fatboy headlight with a good bulb, bigger = better...LOL The two passing lamps are an HD kit for FX bikes, comes with everything including relay and waterproof switch. I have them aimed slightly out to the sides. Works pretty well on those dark tree lined roads..

Try a "True Blue" light. It's not the blue light you are thinking of, it is actually white, very bright. I bought a set for my Chevy. They are just as bright as the HID Blues. My dims are as bright as my old highs. I think GE makes them, I will look and let you know, if interested.

I like that set-up, looks good and would perform well. think I'll steal that idea.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.. Looks like Doug's got the real fix. I just may end up going that way and it looks pretty good. However, I run a windshield and I'd like to try and keep the Wide Glide profile up front if I can. I'll probably give Bama's bulb a shot first... Are they a simple plug and play?

I got an HID kit from Motorcycle Metal. You do have to find space for the ballast, but it is worth it. A world of difference from the stock halogens. I can finally really see at night.

Great write up man!! I think I'll try a cool blue and see how they work for a cheap option.. I like the idea of the brighter HID's, I just dont know where I'd put the ballast, maybe under the seat, but.....

Thanks again..
