I'm swapping my cam ('98 FXDS) for a left over Andrews EV-27 from my last bike and I'm hoping when I open her up I'll find a Torrington.

Let me know what you find in there so I can plan ahead.

Thanks!
If it is a stock Evo it will not have a Torrington bearing , just put one in on your cam change . If you blow a cam bearing it is not a pretty sight .

I see this thread is quite old, but I'll ask this anyway.
What years had the better bearing from the factory? It's my understanding that earlier models had the torrington bearings and HD changed to the cheaper bearing later.

If you don't mind pulling the rockers do you need to go to adjustable pushrods? I'm thinking either an Andrews 27 or 46 cam.

from what I've read, you can use non adjustable if your willing to pull the rockers and gas tank. most people don't wanna pull them so they use the ez instal rods

I'm not sure when they switched back to the torrington bearing after 92, but my 98 FXD Super glide had a torrington bearing in it stock.

My 1989 fxr lost the cam bearing at 95000KM and finished the case. I am now putting in an ultima 113 but I would much rather put in a new cam and inner bearing if I had not F*&k the case. You can just cut the old push rods out and install adjustable ones no need to pull the top end; just use bolt cutters. If in doubt replace the inner bearing, cheep fix
