Default oil pump check ball

ive read where a old sbc push rod has about the same size end on it that the oil pump check ball is. just wondered if any one has ever found a way to roughen the end of one up enough and used it to lap the seat area in. ive been thinking about taking some sand paper to the end of one to scratch it up some and try to lap the seat area in a little. my bike dumped some oil the other day, first time its ever done that, but was a pain.

Looks like it has been done successfully before.

A harley pushrod will work too, just use a little valve grinding compound. Try searching this site, I described how to do it in detail. Hope this helps.

that shows by removing the pump and using lapping compound. im thinking more of having the end of the pushrod already rough enough to lap it without having to use compound.

Hotrod, there is a seat cutter that is out there, only problem is when tou stop cutting there is always a slight ridge where the cutting blades were and you still end up lapping it to get a seal. I believe either Jim's, or Rivera has them.
