Default Do you wash the air filter on your Evo?

I've been reading that most Harley air filters can be washed with warm soapy water, then dried in the sun and reused.

Do you do that or just replace the filter?

Also, do any of you run the K&N High Performance filter? And if so, it it all it's cracked up to be?

Default Wash the Filter

I wash my Filter because I am cheap and it gets filled with oil. Seems to work like you said shake it out and dry in the sun

I have a Mikuni carb and the filter is a K&N, so yup.

It's been a while since I ran a stock filter, but I guess you can do it. K&N are good filters and will allow more air flow for your bike. It is worth the investment.

That`s a pretty generic question...

Some bikes have air filters that are cleanable, some do not...

Update: I went ahead and washed it yesterday and all is well.

But... I'm getting the K&N. I've heard it enough.

When you do wash it blow it out with a compressor and let it dry out good before reinstall.

You can shake it and run it. The moisture will steam and help clean some of the carbon from the pistons.

I run a Mikuni with a 90 degree elbow and K+N cone filter, so yes I wash mine too.

I just cleaned the filter on my 07 Ultra last night. Sprayed it out good with carb cleaner and blowed it dry. Works better than soapy water. Carb cleaner gets the oil and built up crude out.
