redline on stock bike

If you have the stock ignition, you have a rev limiter. Run it till it cuts out. I have a Screaming Eagle ignition module. There is no rev limiter in it, so I just run it until the valves float.
You ain't riding a twinkie. It is supposed to have higher RPM at cruising. Don't worry about it.

I remember running in fourth after setting the ignition to 6k just to see if there may have been a cam installed. Nope, bike fell flat on its face right as the tach hit 5500 rpm. These bikes move on the highway. I run mostly at 4k rpm and the bike loves it. In guessing that's around 90 mph I don't know.

Hitting the rev limiter is fine as a momentary thing. But running out till the valves float could prove to be detrimental. Especially on a motor that had been built to close tolerances... Last thing i want is a valve taking out a piston and the rest of the motor at 6-6500 rpm... Yowser!!!!!!!

Then the follow up questions would be where the power band it. But that I should be able to feel. I have not yet wound it out past the power band or hit the rev limiter. Or if I have I have not noticed.
I have hit the rev limiter on out KLX250S and DRZ400S. At first I did not understand what was happening. Then..... duh.....

Yeah, I remember. Just ribbin' ya. I have I think 0.500 lift in my Andrews EV1 cam, so not that much, stock pistons. Yeah, they could cause problems, but I've never had one. They don't float much. Just enough to not make compression, which self limits the RPM.
4000 RPM is a nice sweet spot in 5th. It's about 90-95. Gas mileage isn't that great, though, in the low to mid 20's.
