This one is so old I don't remember it. Just to be clear though both our DD6 and OD6 will give you the same 500 rpm drop at about 70-75mph we just overdrive the OD6 through the trans and the DD6 through the primary. To answer the original questions I have an 80" EVO with cam, and S&S super E, in my 96 Fatboy with the DD6 and it pulls just fine. Just make sure you are not shifting into 6th too earlier. I usually shift into 6th right about 70-75.

Having just gone through a bad experience with a 6-speed install (had to have another shop do it over again) I'll weigh in with my two cents worth.
My opinions on a 6-speed install:
1. I would go with a gear set instead of a complete transmission. I was told by a shop that does a lot of transmissions, that it's actually more work to install a complete transmission than it is to install a gear set. If someone knows differently for sure I'd like to hear that.
2. Personally, I'd recommend a Baker OD 6-speed. Sure there are a lot of cheaper gear sets out there but they are just that - cheaper. That's why Baker offers a warranty on their gear sets that NO ONE even comes close to. In all honesty, I seriously considered a Harley gear set but, Harley only has a two-year warranty (as do most other companies). Baker gear sets have a 5-year/50K mile warranty. Bottom line is you get what you pay for.
3. Pay someone to install the gear set that knows what they're doing and offers a warranty on their labor. At the end of the day, by the time you buy the tools, even if you can get them for $350, for a few hundered more, you can have the gear set professionally installed and get a warranty on the labor. I just had my gear set installed for $650 (which is actually a little high). IMHO it's not worth my time to do it myself to save $300. Especially, when I can pay someone who literally does hundreds of 6-speed conversions a year and be assured that it will be done right the first time.
4. Whoever suggested dropping the primary gear by 1 tooth was dead on. In fact, I dropped mine by 2 teeth. With the 6-speed OD gear set, in 6th gear I'm running 500 RPM lower on the interstate at 65-70 MPH.
Hope this helps.

Any advice from you all are more than welcome.

I am French and I live in France. I own a Harley-Davidson 1340 FXD superglide year 1996 with S&S super E carburator, Andrews EV27 camshaft, S&S free-flow slipons mufflers. I plan to go with the Screaming Eagle 6-speed transmission part number 33102-03A. I cannot order the Baker OD6. I ride long distances on highways. According to rpm calculators on the web, I run 3388 rpm at 80 miles per hour. I have 25 motor sprocket, 32 front pulley and 70 rear pulley. Would you suggest me to drop the motor sprocket by 1 or 2 teeth and what do you think of my choice?
Any advice from you all are more than welcome.

Most times it's a better idea to start a new thread with a question like yours. You can reference to this thread but do so in your own thread.

you are only altering the gear ratio, no effect on fuel mixture
Both bike’s mentioned above topped out at approx 110 mph at 5k rpm with stock gearing
after change they went 110 at 4.5k rpm
the change at 80mph was proportional,
Made hi speed cruise more pleasant w/o killing acceleration esp with a cam upgrade ( which you have
edit: consulted calculator, rpm will be reduced by 6 percent at any given speed
plug in your numbers and see if it works for you
example 3390 drops to 3190
doesnt seem like much but it makes a difference on the expressway ( auto routes)
esp on a tractor engine that only has 5k rpm to work with!
best to you
