Default What is the best bolt in cam for '97 80 ci evo?

I have a 97 heritage that has only 7900 miles on it! As the motor is concerned it is all stock. I do have all SE ignition module, coil, plugs and wires. Factory carb for now, but I do have a Mikuni 42mm carb to put on it. Looking for the best performance bolt in cam I can put in it. It just doesn't have that "punch" on the throttle at highway speeds.
Need help!!!

Hi Dave and welcome to HDF from the UK. You will find plenty of threads on here about cams, so use the search facility and take time reading through a few. Amongst the many options you will find the Andrews EV27 is a big hit. Had one myself for several years before making bigger changes.

Yet one more vote for the EV-27 cam. My 95 heritage had the same problems you are talking about and the change was immensely gratifying.

I also have the EV-27 cam....nice all around good cam in my opinion. I also know a guy with the SE-3 and swears by it.

The 27 is a good cam, so is any line vthunder, usually the 3010 and 3020 have great bolt in potential and well, my woods cam still lies in the bottom of my pond behind the house.

Just pipes and air cleaner with carb rejet will make a lot of difference. I am still running the stock cam in mine, and it pulls real hard all the way to 90, and I have never asked it to do more than that. Pipes and air cleaner helped, but rejeting the carb made the most difference after that, and I still get 50 mpg.
