Default Flasher location.

Where is the turn signal flasher located on the Big Twin Evos? PO put LED signals on and they come on with the button but won't blink. To pass inspection I will have to push the button and let off to flash them. I bought a load equalizer but haven't come across the flasher. Only place I haven't looked is under the tank. There is a flat box wired under there (looks like a hershey bar with wires). But I don't see a round mechanical flasher. PO said they worked before, (but he said a lot of stuff that won't true too).

I know it's not in the headlight housing or under the oil tank, looked there. After I finish my tranny seals I'm gonna pull the Gas tank and check there.

Depends which model bike it is. On my FLHS, owned from new, it is strapped to the fork leg, behind the headlamp nacelle. However they are expensive things to replace, so a PO may have fitted something simpler.

I have fitted LED signals recently and they won't work with most flashers without a little help. Because they draw so little power, compared with a normal bulb, the flasher unit won't flash properly. Mine would if I turned them all on together, but not for left or right.

What you need to cure the problem is to wire in a 'load equalizer'. The one I fitted is sold by Badlands.

1988 Motor, 1984 5 speed tranny (all FXR) all on a 2005 Frame. It was built in 2005. So your guess is good as mine. The rear signals are LED and the fronts are older stock type. I traced the wires under the tank from the front to a small flat white connecter there is no old style round flasher as far as I can see. I bought a load equalizer but if there is no flasher I will have to get a mechanical one and wire the rears (LED) thru the EQ and not the fronts. Just wondering if the flat connecter is a new style flasher.

What brand of frame is it? If it is a special there is no knowing where the flasher is! If it uses a stock Harley wiring harness a wiring diagram for the correct year may help.

We like to see interesting bikes, so post us a few photos. May just help somone on here to point you in the right direction.

I have a 1990 Fat Boy. Does anyone know where they put the flasher on it and is it supposed to be a 6 volt unit?
Thanks, Ron

Ron, 1990 Glide here. Its a 12V unit, which my service manual tells me is a two pin circular thingey, behind the headlight reflector. It also says don't use a 4-pin unit, as they won't work properly.

I new it wasn't under the tank because I took them off. I would have never guess in behind the light. Going to check now. Can I use any 12 volt car flasher or do I have to buy a Harley? It is a split system with normal lights up front and led's in the back. Thanks, Ron
